In order to optimally attain the stated intent of the CITP, a series of workshops were held for the purpose of identifying needs in key program focus areas. This was accomplished by engaging stakeholders, universities, researchers and others to discuss issues relevant to environmental impact mitigation and possible ways of addressing these through research and demonstration.
Along with needs identified in these focus areas, availability of resources for performing project work were also discussed. Projects identified as having optimal potential for environmental impact mitigation, conservation, protection and restoration of Texas coastal ecosystems became the basis for solicitation and selection of projects in support of attaining program objectives.
